You know how even a slight variation in wording in an AI prompt can produce vastly different output? The same principle applies just as powerfully to human communication.

We assume that anyone can write well enough for the workplace. But writing with purpose, especially writing that drives clarity, alignment, and action is a honed skill.

For me as an ID, this presents an opportunity to pay closer attention to how we approach content in L&D. Every L&D product is a kind of a prompt that tells people how to act, what to value, and where to focus.

When we get that prompt wrong, performance may suffer. When we get it right, it becomes a lever for impact.

Like Sam Altman, founder of OpenAI, said in a tweet, that prompt engineering is "an amazingly high-leverage skill" and I agree. But I see it's true for human behavior as much as it's for AI.
